Thank You, Miss. Unthank
Rachel Unthank
& The Winterset,
The Brewhouse,
Taunton
21 Feb.
Trowbridge Village Pump Festival.
So I was mega pleased to see that my local theatre was having
a series of Folk evenings.
The first being on Tuesday night.
Rachel Unthank is receiving critical acclaim at the moment
for her Debut Album "Cruel Sister" and she and her group are currently in the middle of their first tour.
The instruments used sparingly, giving the voice centre stage.
We were given a mixture of Sea Songs, Reels and Traditional & Contemporary folk music. plus Clog Dancing. And although it is Rachel's voice that is getting the plaudits. All four girls took their turns singing lead.
There were a couple of hitches during the set, Rachel's Cello not being in tune, and Becky getting in a mix up over mike stands, plus a couple of silences where the they forgot what was next.
But I can forgive them that.
The music was a joy.
The Set.
